Regional Water Governance
Facing
scarcity, Enhancing cooperation
LEAD Pakistan is pleased to announce its International Water Conference entitled "Regional Water Governance: Facing Scarcity, Enhancing Cooperation".
The conference will take an innovative stance toward water governance focusing on a both integrated and cooperative approach. Multidisciplinary international experts as well as decision makers will debate the interconnectedness between local partnership and conflict resolution mechanisms and trans-boundary cooperation.
Particular attention will be given to the very novel topic of water cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with the hope that talks and arising recommendation will foster a peace-building, lasting and sustainable process between the two countries. This will be done in the light of adaptation to emerging challenges running from growing population to sustainable development and climate change.
LEAD Pakistan has planned this conference to be a connecting opportunity for international water experts and idea laboratory platform. Along with media event publicizing conclusion from the conference, this event will offer a networking session with opportunity for the researchers, donors and stakeholders to present their work as well as a highly selective roundtable, engaging with crucial questions for Pakistan and the region.

take place in the morning. Public, private actors as well as
academics and non-governmental representatives will benefit
from an exclusive opportunity to debate crucial issues of
water governance. It is a unique opportunity for
professionals of the water sector to approach and engage
with the most renowned water specialist in Afghanistan,
France and Pakistan.

Networking Session
The networking session which will take place after the
first plenary session will enable donors, speakers and
participants to exchange in a more informal and
individual basis with potential partners. LEAD Pakistan
is also committed to promote the next generation of
water leaders and will offer outstanding PhD students
and young researchers the opportunity to present their
work on posters, enhancing their chances to seek
mentorship offers from experts.

Media Event
In order to sensitize a wider public to the issue of
water governance in Pakistan and the region, a media
event will take place in the afternoon. Carefully
selected speakers will answer the media and the audience
on the conference themes, and elaborate on a coherent
approach to water governance in the region. The show
will be particularly eloquent in pushing forward
cooperative agreements around water issue and creating
momentum for integrated water governance.
