LEAD has now
redesigned this training program. The new LDP is
open to people from countries that have not
previously been part of the LEAD network. Our
Leadership Development Program has accepted trainees
from several countries including China, Bangladesh,
Egypt, Jordan, Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
The
Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD)
Program—an international capacity building program
inspired by the United Nations Convention on
Environment and Development, 1992, and supported by
the Rockefeller Foundation—was the raison d’etre of
LEAD Pakistan when the organization was created in
1994 and for several years afterwards. Apart from
its contribution to national capacity building,
which has been considerable, the LEAD programme
played an important role in shaping the focus and
approach of LEAD Pakistan as it expanded,
specifically, the organization’s specialization and
strength in capacity building; emphasis on
experiential learning; international quality; and
commitment to stakeholder dialogue and sustainable
development through all of its endeavors.
