Introduction

Funders want to give money for projects that will fund solutions to problems. The proposal has to be informative and persuasive convincing donors to fund the project. A persuasive proposal is built by demonstrating a logical way of thinking – identifying the need for the project, stating specific goals, objectives and activities, preparing the budget and outlining the evaluation plan. In addition the proposal should include the organizations background and strengths for the purpose of credibility.

Proposal writing is an ongoing component of any organization that requires funding from donor agencies for its development. Each donor agency has its own set of directions that need to be followed while preparing the proposal. This course will be a useful resource for assisting participants to develop effective project proposals following donor agency guidelines.

Project Proposal writing is an essential skill that is required by professionals working in NGO’s, Corporate / Private sector, Academia and Government. In certain circumstances the existence of an organization hinges upon the successful development of proposals. It can pose a threat to an organization’s existence if it does not have the capacity within its organization to develop proposals that attract donor agencies. This training will build the capacity of participants to prepare proposals that will be funded.At the end of the training the participants will equipped with concrete skills in proposal writing.
