The Program
The
course is broken down into three units that provide tools for the
various stages of developing a project and raising funds for it:
Project
Concept Development
The
project concept describes the ideas about what can be done within a
specified period of time to deal with a particular problem or
situation; a situation that requires more time and resources than is
normally available to an organisation. It represents a
collective vision of those directly involved in planning the
project.
By the end of the training the
participants will be able to:
-
Identify
the key actors required to define the problem or situation that
the project will address
-
Consult
and build support among the stakeholders
-
Identify
prospective partners
-
Write
a project concept
-
Assess
the project concept
Identifying
and Approaching Potential Funders
A
funding agency is any agency that provides financial support to a
project. It can be governmental organisations, intergovernmental
agencies, non-governmental organisations, non-profit organisations,
foundations and for-profit organisations. The purpose of this unit is
to build the capacity of the trainees to identify and approach
potential funding agencies for a project.
Writing
and Assessing a Project Proposal
Using
a project proposal template that includes the type of information
requested in most funding agencies' application forms, the purpose of
this unit is to develop effective project proposal writing skills. |
