MoU signed between LEAD
Pakistan and Pakistan Meteorological
Department (PMD)

An MoU was signed between LEAD Pakistan and
PMD with the intention to
promote collaboration and coordination on a
broad range of climate change activities.
The agreement states that:
PMD and LEAD wish to support each other in
their work and provide strategic benefits of
research, management, training, and
development programs on Climate Change.
1. PMD
agrees to collaborate with LEAD
in
utilizing knowledge and expertise for
designing and implementing development
activities that can
be effective in the field of Climate Change.
PMD and LEAD will work together, in a
mutually beneficial arrangement to advance
the use of said expertise and knowledge.
This MOU may be amended, modified and/or
extended only by mutual consent and in
writing from both of the Parties hereto.
2. LEAD
agrees to work with PMD to identify and
establish relationships which, mobilize,
capacitate and provide training to
communities and stakeholders at various
levels to effectively work on the identified
climate change issues and to provide
services tailored to their needs.
Follow up activities:
Both organizations are seeking opportunities
for collaborating on climate change
activities. A project proposal for an
extension project has been submitted to
Asian Pacific Network (APN) by PMD partners
in China involving Climate Change
Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptive
Policy. PMD has involved LEAD as a project
partner in the proposal for the policy
making component of the proposed project.

MOU signed between LEAD
Pakistan and Saafconsult B.V.

Saafconsult
B.V. is a Dutch registered limited liability
company active in the field of consultancy,
project management and investments for water
and environmental projects.
The MoU signed between LEAD
and Saafconsult B.V. records intention of
both organizations to cooperate on projects
in Pakistan, South Asia and the Middle East
in such a way as to complement each others
strengths and competencies. Major areas of
collaboration are not limited to, but
include the following:

Development of an investment
firm for investments in green projects in
Pakistan

Joint bidding for projects
-
Development of Innovative
Programmes
-
Internal support, advice and
sharing of market information
Follow-up
activities:
As a
follow-up to the MoU, Saafconsult and LEAD
have joined hands to bid for national and
international projects and have submitted
joint proposals to donors such as EU.

MOU
signed between LEAD Pakistan and Small &
Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA)

The MOU was signed to
establish working procedures between SMEDA
and LEAD to coordinate and run training
courses jointly and engage in other
services. The MOU specifies conditions to be
followed by both partners for launching and
running joint training courses. These
conditions pertain to information sharing,
development of training curricula,
translation and standardization of modules,
timing and duration of courses, level of
course participation, expense and profit
sharing, selection of resource persons,
visibility arrangements, monitoring and
evaluation of courses and certification.
Follow-up activities:
A joint
training course on Waste Management was
organized at the Lahore Chambers of Commerce
and Industry.

MoU signed
between LEAD Pakistan and
District Government Mansehra
27-May-2008
District Government Mansehra
was engaged in Disaster Response
Netwrok-Balakot project activities through
this MOU. They agreed to embed the
volunteers’ network developed by LEAD
Pakistan into the Civil Defence Department
and to provide patronage.
Follow up activities:
At the moment LEAD Pakistan
is keeping the district government in
picture and will be officially linking the
network to the Civil Defence Department at
the end of the project.

MoU signed
between LEAD Pakistan and
District Government Lodhran
26-May-2008
The MOU was a general
document seeking support from the DG Lodhran
for Leadership for Reproductive Health (LRH)
project activities. The MOU mainly required
their support in linking the project
coordination team with all relevant sectors
within the district. The MOU also envisioned
the DG carrying forward any policy input
emanating from the LRH cohort.
Follow up activities:
The assistance that has come
forth is in the form of provision of
linkages which helped in the cohort
selection process as well as in extending
membership of the LRH network by encouraging
respective line departments for
participation.

Lodhran Pilot Project

An MOU was signed to get
Lodhran Pilot Projects support to coordinate
activities of Leadership for Reproductive
Health Project in District Lodhran. So far
all activities, from selection of the
network/cohort members to organizing them
for different networking activities within
the district are being undertaken with LPPs
support.

committed to implement the district level
activities under the project "Environmental
Conflict Resolution" (ECR). As for the
District Government, they had committed to
facilitate intersectoral collaboration and
participation in the project activities and
dialogues. In addition to this DG was also
to appoint a focal office within their
structure to take on the responsibilities
beyond project duration. This focal point
was also to host the knowledge created
through the project. Wherever possible DG
and LP were to collaborate in forming farmer
and community organizations. All of the
above was implemented except the forming of
farmer organizations.

Development Initiative (SIDI)

understanding according to which SIDI was to
initiate an enterprise development project.
SIDI was to lead the project and LP to
assist in capacity building and mobilization
of the local communities of the project
area.

Both organizations could not
come to a conclusion on the proposal and no
subsequent action could be undertaken.

MoU

Government Khairpur
and
Sindh Devolved Social
Services Program

The MOU was signed with DG
Khairpur, SDSSP and LP to replicate the
DEMO (Democratized Education Management and
Ownership)
SMC (School Management Committee) capacity
building model in Gambat and Sobhodero
Tehsils of District Khairpur.
Follow up activities:
Following this MOU 20 SMCs
(School Management Committees) were selected
in the two Tehsils and government funds were
managed and spent through SMCs in
translation of their School Improvement
Plans. The successful model was demonstrated
for SDSSP and Government of Sindh to expand
it across the province.
