Training & Capacity Development Management Dev. Program Participating Org.

Participating Organization

The response to MDP has been overwhelming. In all, 585 participants representing 139 organizations have attended these courses. Of these, 21 percent represented government departments; 6 percent defense, 28 percent, NGOs, and 45 percent corporate sector. The courses also catered to the needs and expectations of varied organizational tiers: 16 percent of the trainees were senior managers; 54 percent, middle managers; and 30 percent, junior managers

Building upon the decade-long global experience of the LEAD Program, LEAD Pakistan actively seeks to ensure diversity in professional and sectoral backgrounds when accepting candidates to MDP courses. The unique networking opportunity represented by the presence of diverse development stakeholders at these courses is regarded a significant advantage by participants.

As a testimony to the effectiveness of MDP courses, 34 percent of organizations participating in the programmes courses are ‘repeat participants’, and various corporations and government and non-government organizations have since approached LEAD Pakistan to design and develop specialized courses for them.

In April 2003, LEAD Pakistan adopted a policy of offering scholarships to MDP courses to NGOs working in disadvantaged regions and districts of Pakistan, preferably in direct contact with communities. The purpose of this initiative is to enable marginalized organizations, which would not otherwise be able to afford such trainings and workshops, to benefit from professional capacity building. So far, 12 participants have benefited from this intervention.
