LEAD Pakistan is facilitating Environmental Protection Agency, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to draft the provincial climate change policy document with specific sectoral policy recommendations and mitigation measures to cope with abnormal climate changes. The activity will lead to developing simplified implementation plans for the urgent and direct implementation, and proactive compliance, of MEAs at a Provincial Level in KP.
The project will work towards developing a climate change Policy and MEA Action Plans (MEAAP) using a participatory approach, through situation analysis, needs assessment and consultation with relevant stakeholders. The project aims to establish an institutional mechanism for coordination with stakeholders and formulate provincial climate change policy and provincial action plans for implementation of the MEAs signed by the Government of Pakistan in close consultation with relevant provincial line departments and other stakeholders. The Provincial Climate Change Policy document and the MEAAP will be submitted to the Cabinet of the Government of KP for final approval and implementation by the Provincial Government. The project will be completed from April 2015 to December 2015.
