Strengthening Climate Negotiation Capacity in Pakistan

The government of Pakistan is aware of the global developments around climate change, and is increasingly understanding the importance of UN climate change negotiations on Pakistan in the years to come. This is particularly relevant in the run up to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 16) in December 2010, which will be held in Cancun, Mexico.

Objectives

This project, undertaken by LEAD Pakistan, works with the Government of Pakistan to systematically strengthen its climate negotiations capacity.

Outcomes

  • The preparation of background notes offering a clear overview of the current state of affairs on climate issues important to Pakistan
  • The development of policy briefs to highlight key areas for Pakistan, and provide recommendations for negotiations and other policy processes; engagement with key players and sharing information through small consultations/meetings.
