Back To PostsLEAD’s Summer School: A Day of Learning

LEAD’s Summer School on “Managing Shared River Basins” entered its third day as participants were introduced to an eminent environment lawyer Rafay Alam. He spoke in detail about the legal frameworks for Transboundary River Basins.  Moreover, learned speakers from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) conducted informative sessions on Climate Modeling and hands on applications.

Climate change has adversely impacted Pakistan’s environment in particular and Earth’s ecosystem in general. By keeping in mind the urgent attention this issue requires, LEAD successfully arranged sessions on climate modeling that prompted the participants to critically analyze the topic.

A participant, Ameer Abdullah from National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad expressed his satisfaction at learning about Climate Modeling and other technical aspects. He said that these sessions allowed him to bridge the gap between policy and science. Another attendee, Arshad Mahmood from Ministry of Water Resources Islamabad also mentioned that eminent speakers were successfully enhancing the policy related and technical knowledge of their audience through interesting lectures.
