Ahmed Saeed Shaikh | Chair

Ahmed Shaikh is a social scientist and development strategist.  With degrees in urban development, environment and resources, and architecture, he has been a recipient of scholarships from CIDA and the Rockefeller Foundation for his graduation and post-graduation studies.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of institutional strengthening, quality assurance, evaluations and impact assessments, grants management, public policies, public-private partnerships, renewable energy and economic growth, countering violence and terrorism, gender equity, education sector reforms, disaster risk management/ reduction, and climate change.

In his professional career, he has remained associated with and provided quality technical assistance and inclusive policy advice to national and international development organisations such as, USAID, DFID, UNDP, ADB, CIDA, the Aga Khan Development Network, the Federal Government of Pakistan, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Provincial Governments, and private sector firms.

He has applied concepts of organisational learning and strengthening processes to create synergies between the Government development programs, and development organizations.  He has administered institutional capacity assessment, and organisational audits, and augmented management systems to enhance sustainability, resource mobilisation, knowledge management, gender equality, effective partnership, and corporate social responsibilities for a variety of organisations.

Mr Shaikh has successfully established community driven built environment improvement programmes for multi-altitude areas, including low cost housing, sanitation schemes and infrastructure, enterprise development programs and community development projects that were internationally acknowledged and awarded.

For his various consultancy assignments, he has designed and constructed seismic resistant prototypes, and developed disaster risk management schemes, which were adopted by international organizations.  Also, together with the University of Reading – UK, he has developed and delivered a comprehensive M&E ‘Immersion Training Programme’, including courses on ‘Statistical Analysis’, Social Surveys, Data Management, and Technical Report Writing.
