LEADership Development Programme - LDP :: Introduction

Leadership Development Program – LDP is the flagship component of LEAD Pakistan. LDP is a training program designed to enable future leaders to understand the complex demands of sustainable development and to equip them with the skills, attitudes and cross-sectoral linkages to promote changes towards such patterns of development. Every year, promising young mid career professionals are selected from the government, NGOs, corporate sector, industry, media, and academia through a competitive process that assesses their potential for leadership and commitment to the LEAD cause.

LEAD’s training program aims to help mid-career professionals to better understand the challenges of sustainable development for communities all over the world.

The primary aim of the Leadership Development Program (LDP) is to:

The Challenge

A principal challenge facing decision makers in all countries is how to create policies and actions that reflect the link between economic prosperity, a healthy environment, and social equity.

Such policies must transcend traditional boundaries—those between disciplines, sectors, nationalities, cultures and generations—and will require innovative thought and sensitive, creative leadership to develop and implement them.

LEAD's role

To respond to this challenge, we have designed the LEADship Training Programme to focus on strengthening knowledge of sustainable development and enhancing key leadership skills among new groups of leaders.

The training is undertaken at the national, international and regional level.

The LEAD Approach

The Leadership Development Programme is a multi-stage progression of learning activities that build upon each other, and is structured in a way that allows participants (Associates) to remain in full employment for the duration of the programme.

It aims to develop participants’ understanding of key sustainable development issues at the local, national and global level, and provides a forum for exchanging experiences and visions for managing these issues.

The training is highly participatory, drawing on both the experience of participants as well as involving external actors at different levels to provide an environment for peer learning and sharing. This is achieved with a mix of methodologies, including both traditional formats and innovative training delivery techniques.

LEAD Fellows Network

The LEAD Fellows network is a unique association of multi-sectoral and multicultural leaders. The Leadership Development Program provides an exclusive pathway to join this select group of individuals.

Upon completion of this programme, participants become LEAD Fellows and join a real and virtual network of talented individuals from over 80 countries. Fellows frequently mention the value of being part of the large LEAD family, where lifelong relationships are formed and continue to be strengthened over the years after their graduation from the programme.

Who should apply?

The Leadership Development Programme is ideal for mid career professionals demonstrating outstanding leadership potential and who would benefit from extensive contact with other leaders from across the world, from residential courses, and from a strong peer-learning experience.
