About the workshop
A three day
workshop has been organized for the journalists from India
and Pakistan in Islamabad. The workshop will be facilitated
by renowned international and national trainers and experts.
A number of subject specialists from the government, NGOs
and civil society will be invited to give presentations on
water issues. The participants will be sensitized on the issues
through interactive talks/discussions, presentations, group
work, case studies, a documentary and a field visit. |
Thematic
areas
-Discussions on inter provincial and regional conflicts
arising due to unequal distribution of water resources;
-Brainstorming on sheer need of accurate reporting
especially on issues of natural resource management and
their sustainable usage;
-The way forward from Copenhagen negotiations especially
focusing on climate change impacts on South Asian region;
-Defining inter- relationships – scarcity of water
reservoirs and its impacts on cross border agriculture. |
Objectives
At the end of workshop the participants will:
-Understand the issues associated with water resources
across borders in an objective and neutral atmosphere
and learned about best practices in the conservation of
water and solutions to the water crisis.
-Learn about climate change issues at both the regional
and international level and come to a clearer
understanding of the science behind climate change. |
