Voicing Issues of Human Rights Victims in Pakistan

LEAD Pakistan organized a Stakeholders’ Consultation on Human Rights on 30th September 2009. The Consultation was held to as part of the project “Voicing Issues of Human Rights Victims in Pakistan” being implemented by LEAD Pakistan with the support of the British High Commission.  

The Consultation comprised of a small group of human rights and legal experts convened to discuss human rights issues in Pakistan to brainstorm on what exactly is human rights, who are the victims are and also to identify the players of human rights in the country.


Objectives:

The Consultation aimed to achieve the following based on discussions among participants:

  • Human Rights: its definition and interpretation.

  • Discussing human rights issues in Pakistan and determining which issues need to be highlighted.

  • How LEAD can add value and which issues are neglected.

  • Identifying “Champions” of in Human Rights in Pakistan.

  • Identifying key organizations working on Human Rights in Pakistan.
