LEAD’s origin lies in its flagship program, the
Leadership Development Program (LDP). Over 16 years,
LEAD has produced annual cohorts of mid to senior
level managers in public, private and civic sectors
with commitment and skills to ensure that
development is sustainable. This internationally
linked training program has also resulted in the
creation of a Fellows’ Network, with over 220
members nationally linked to more than 2000 members
across the world. Its primary purpose is to create a
critical mass of well-placed professionals in
various sectors who can ensure that economic, social
and political development is environmentally
sensitive in line with Agenda 21.
LEAD Pakistan has been sustaining the inherited LDP
in the absence of external funding since 2003
through its thematic programs – Environmental
Management Program as one of them subsidises much of
LDP.
The Environmental Management Program aims to inspire
leadership for sustainable development at the micro,
meso and macro levels – undertaking a range of
activities such as capacity building, research,
networking, partnerships, community empowerment,
public policy engagement, knowledge management,
social capital development and Information
Communications Technology (ICT).
