Engro -
Clean Development Mechanism
In order to decrease power cuts and at the same time secure the
power supply in Pakistan, Engro Chemical Pakistan Limited (ECPL) is
in the process of setting up a new combined cycle power plant (CCPP)
at Qadirpur in the Ghotki district of Sindh, Pakistan, providing new
additional electricity generation capacity to the local grid.

Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited -
Case Study on Boosting Water Productivity in Agricultural Sector
To control water losses and improve water productivity, Engro
Polymer and Chemicals Limited helped introduce the High Efficiency
Irrigation Systems (HEIS), use of polyvinyl chloride¹ (PVC) pipes in Pakistan for water
conveyance, and lining of water channels and reservoirs with PVC
geomembrane.

Afforestation and Reforestation Programme to Offset Carbon
Emissions
Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited (EPCL)
has become increasingly concerned over the growing carbon footprint
of its corporation. Recently, they have worked out a research
project for exploring opportunities through a feasibility study for
offsetting carbon emissions for which an afforestation and
reforestation program is to be carried out.

ICI Pakistan -
Energy Conservation and Reduction in Green House Gases
Energy reduction has been actively focused in ICI Pakistan
especially because the manufacturing processes are energy intensive
and thus a significant contributor to generation of Green house
Gases. They have adopted methodology to reduce “Energy” and “Energy
associate carbon” by five percent.

Pakistan State Oil -
Bio-diesel Initiative: A Step
Towards a Cleaner and Self Sufficient Pakistan
Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has started working on bio-fuels with
emphasis on bio diesel².
PSO has planted Jatropha Curcas plant (a non-edible and potential
source of energy) at a PSO site in Sindh.

Pakistan Tobacco Company -
Afforestation Program
Pakistan Tobacco Company initiated a Afforestation Program as wood
remains a prime source of fuel for a number of agricultural as well
as domestic activities. The Afforestation Program is designed around
the principles of community involvement and direct company
management.
